18.5 CrossFit Open includes the following workout:

Do as many reps as possible of the following in 7 minutes:

  1. 3 thrusters at 100lb
  2. 3 pull ups
  3. 6 thrusters at 100lb
  4. 6 pull ups

Increase each round by 3

Movement Tips

Thrusters, do them slowly, no rush. Start with a squad clean.

Pull ups. Breaking up pull ups is the key. Doing them in butterfly style will let you have larger sets. If you don’t have butterfly, doing singles is also ok.

My goal was to finish round of 18’s. I couldn’t get to it..

My plan was to break up the reps as follows:

  • Round of 3: (thrusters)3 – (pull ups)3
  • Round of 6:(thrusters)6 – (pull ups)3, 3
  • Round of 9:(thrusters)5,4 – (pull ups)3, 3, 3
  • Round of 12′:(thrusters)6, 6 – (pull ups)3, 3, 3, 3
  • Round of 15′:(thrusters)5, 5, 5 – (pull ups)3, 3, 3, 3, 3
  • Round of 18′:(thrusters)6, 6, 6 – (pull ups)3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3

Round 15 third set of pull ups is where the things start going wrong way. Had to break up the pull ups by doubles and singles

Also last set of thruster was very hard:
